DIPLOMA FAQS
- Is the Implant course recognised in the UK?
Unfortunately, due to GDC regulations and the fact that the GDC does not recognise Implantology as a specialist field it is not recognised by the GDC at the present time.
We believe that we are one of the few courses which fulfils all the criteria that an implant course should be. The document can be found on the GDC website.
- Will there be an opportunity to upgrade to a Masters Degree?
We are currently working hard behind the scenes to create a Masters Degree programme, so it may be possible that your credits from the implant programme can be forwarded towards obtaining a Masters Degree.
- How long does the course take?
The course is a 1-year program.
- I have limited knowledge on implants. Do you think this course is suitable for me?
This course is suitable for absolute beginners and those at an intermediate level. We assume delegates have no knowledge of implants and we will teach you all you need to start placing implants in your practice.
- Is there any homework?
We expect all our delegates to subscribe and read journals such as JOMI (included when you join the Academy of Osseointegration), Dental Implant Summaries (included when you join Academy of Dental Implantology UK) and Clinical Oral Implants Research (included when you join the European Academy of Osseointegration).
- Is the travel or accommodation included to Brazil?
We have decided not to get involved with the travel process.
In previous years people have wanted to make there own plans to visit different parts of Brazil either before or after the Residencies.
We prefer that during the Residencies everyone to stays at the same hotel which we will reserve for you at the best rate possible.
- I already do implants is it possible to attend the Residencies only?
Provided that you have evidence of attending implant courses it may be possible to sign up for the Residencies only. However, this is at the discretion of Perio-Implant Europe Ltd and the University. It is very important that you have a good understanding about implants before treating patients.
- Can I book to attend certain modules on the course?
Yes it is possible to attend one off modules. You can contact Amanda on 01276 469600 or send an email requesting which modules you would like to do.
